Updated: Dhaulagiri NW Ridge Trio Reach 6,800m

UPDATE:

Peter Hamor, Horia Colibasanu, and Marius Gane reached 6,800m on the unclimbed NW Ridge today. Yesterday, they advanced 1,400m in one push to Camp 2. Today was much slower because of the weight of their gear, and they climbed only 400m. They set their tent up for the night under a serac.

According to Horia, they should reach the summit ridge tomorrow, but they still have quite a way to go over unknown terrain.

Perez and Mena back in C3; avalanche danger too high

Meanwhile, after two days of silence, Ecuadorians Carla Pérez and Topo Mena are safely back in Camp 3, Stefi Troguet’s team confirms.

The couple reached Camp 3 on Friday, climbing without ropes or a broken trail. Yesterday they launched a summit attempt but had to turn back because of high avalanche danger.

Today, the Sherpa team fixed ropes to Camp 3, while clients rested in Camp 2. Troguet, climbing without O2, has teamed up with fellow Andorran Dominic Trastoy and Brazilian Moeses Finamoncini for the summit push. Given the avalanche danger higher up, it will be interesting to see what the Sherpas and following climbers will decide.
